Lars was a professor at Konstfack.

His art consists of expressionistic landscapes and depictions of people, often with motifs from the Arlid region and Bilinge. He was awarded the Kristianstad art association's scholarship in 1974.

A memorial exhibition of Fohlin's art was shown at Tomarp's royal court in Kvidinge in 2007.

Fohlin is represented at Malmö museum, Norrköping art museum and Höganäs museum.
